What are “QR” codes?
Have you noticed those little images that seem to be showing up everywhere?
Those images are called QR codes, or Quick Response codes.
QR codes are two-dimensional codes readable by mobile devices and camera phones equipped with QR barcode readers or scanners.
A QR Code can contain a wide range of information and is being used by businesses all over the world as a marketing tool to send people to a website, for example. A QR Code can also contain a phone number, an SMS message, V-Card data or just plain alphanumeric text, and the scanning device will respond by opening up the correct application to handle the encoded data appropriately.
Originating in Japan, QR codes took hold in Europe are now sweeping across the US in use and popularity.
